So, I was browsing dA and all of a sudden my download window pops up. Somehow without touching anything my computer decides to download a pdf file called 505.pdf. Wtf? Right? Like, I was on the phone with Becky I wasn’t using my computer, the window was just open!
From there my computer shuts down, restarts, shuts down again. As I attempt to restart after that I get a little black screen. “Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt= \WINDOWS\system32\config\system”
Wtf is this? I never got this error before…

I sign onto MSN on the PS3 to let Cece know what’s goin’ on. I’m searching the Internet for what happened, what went wrong. Every person tells me the same thing, “You need an actual Windows XP disk, OEM’s will NOT work!” This discouraged me, I had an OEM, and I have no possible way of getting a regular Windows XP disk!
So, I believe formatting is the answer, I can’t do anything. It’s over! Time to lose EVERYTHING.
Wait! I’ll install XP into the same partition as the corrupt XP. What does this do? It creates a WINDOWS.0. I log into this windows, I dick around for a little, trying to find ANYWAY possible for me to save my wanted files. (chat logs, pictures from friends) The rest isn’t necessary, that’s all I wanted, if I could save that then I wouldn’t mind formatting.
But, I start to think, what if I repair the WINDOWS folder that is corrupt? How would I do that? So I go into safe mode. I open up my trusty CMD.
CD C:\WINDOWS\system32\config
ren system system.old
copy C:\WINDOWS\repair\system
I restart, I load the broken windows.
SUCCESS!! But wait, all my drivers are gone since I installed the WINDOWS.0, ok. I’ll fix that, I install all my drivers.
Everything is back to normal, I’ve now backed up the files I want to keep.
I have now deleted WINDOWS.0 and Everything is normal, and the virus is gone as well.
